Weekly Wrap 38 Family 5k Baseball and NEEDTOBREATHE

Wow, what a mouth full on the title this week, oh wait our weekend was just as full. Y’all know me by now that I can not sit still for long. I ran across a very fitting quote thatย Jessie from The Acquired Sassย posted last week:

We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us

Isn’t that great? I think so.

Weekly Wrap 38 Family 5k Baseball and NEEDTOBREATHE edition

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Wrap. Link up your posts with us, Holly from HoHo Runs and myself here at MissSippiPiddlin each week. We want to hear about your weekly recaps. You are encouraged to include anything you did to be active, this could include training, workouts, recaps or anything you considered fun. We want to hear it all. You can summarize your whole week or just a small portion of it. It’s up to you! We appreciate each and every one of you for supporting us and each other!

weekly wrap

SUNDAY – Destin Half Marathon, ended the day with over 33,000 steps!
MONDAY – Walked 2.5 miles while Mr.Sippi ran, 15,000 steps
TUESDAY – Ran 2.03 in the AM, then 2-mile run + 6.21 bike ride (I’m still juggling AM vs PM running) I didn’t know we were going to run and bike so I just went with it… Do you ever do this? 15,700 steps
WEDNESDAY – Back at Strength Training – Total body since I missed Monday, Ran with my daughter and she ran the whole 3 miles non-stop! Woop, Woop! (Yup, my family is killing me but I want to support them)
THURSDAY – Official REST – It is about time!!!! It rained both this morning and afternoon. 7,000 steps
FRIDAY – 5000 steps before coffee and breakfast. I knew today would be a challenge to get in my steps so I tried hard to move more during the day while at the office. Over 10,000 but not sure how much
SATURDAY – 5k with the family, Over 17,000 steps

A Sunday race out of town just puts a kink in my entire week! Does it do that for you? Number one I’m wiped out not only from the race but the activities from a normal weekend. You throw in a 5+ hour drive home and the daunting reality of Monday quickly approaching and well it just sucks the life out of you.

weekly wrap

In case you missed it, Holly and I were together last weekendย and we got to run in the Destin Half Marathon together. I’d do it all over again even down to getting home just before midnight if I could! We had a blast on the beach! I’m still going to recap it …… soon as I get caught up. ๐Ÿ™‚

Weekly wrap 38 family 5k

What’s cooking?

This week was full of ups and downs when it came to healthy eating. One night it was closer to 10PM, but grilled chicken, brussel sprouts, sweet potato, another night we ate early but had comfort food of hashbrown, meat, and cheese casserole. And then this happened…

weekly wrap 38 Family 5k

Ok so, I see this “healthy” Almond Butter Cookie sandwich posted earlier this week and well I could not quit thinking about it, this was my attempt. #keepingitreal

Make me feel better, who else had something this “bad”??? Don’t let me waller in regret alone…

Family 5k

weekly wrap 38 family 5k

Today was the day we all ran a 5k race together! I could not have been happier seeing that everyone did well! In fact, I really wanted to finish first so I could get to see them cross the finish line. We had a turnaround and I saw my husband and Dustin but I somehow missed Mo. I don’t know how I did but the last half of the race I looked for her and as the minutes went on I worried.

I should have stayed with her, what if something happened?? Well, turns out I just missed her and she finished not very far behind me!!! I didn’t even realize it until after the guys finished. I kept watching and watching an then here they come up behind me. I was so relieved! No official results yet but the guys finished in about 34 minutes, Mo 32 and me 29. ย It had one big hill from the bottom of the spillway road up the dam then even further up. They were troopers. they even said Mo didn’t walk until the 2nd hill and let me tell you that is saying something!!!

I’m very proud of them all and I sure hope this is not our last Family 5K!!! Afterwards, we enjoyed none other than Waffle House and at Mo’s request we went to Chick fil a to get a milkshake for her treat! Well deserved! ย What is your favorite treat after a race?

Sunday Funday

Since we left very early today with our plate full of activities you will have to join me on

to see just what we are getting into. We are headed to Oxford MS to take in a baseball game and also enjoy a NEEDTOBREATHE concert in the Grove. Have you ever seen them? Do you know who they are?

If you are not following me especially Twitter and FB you need to be. I regularly share your posts and blogs on there. I may have even shared yours.

Speaking of sharing, I’m joining the Sunday Fitness and Food Linkup hosted by my friends

Ilka from Ilka’s Blog and

Angela from Marathons & Motivation

I appreciate them both for supporting our link up as well.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend! Oh and don’t forget we have several of our own running major marathons and races this week. I hope you’ll check into with the others and see what they are up too.

Coming up

Don’t forget I’ll be running in the Rock n Roll Nashville race next weekend! We’ll once again load up our trusty RV named The Dutchess and head to TN!!

I got some great suggestions for places to visit, I just hope I have enough time.

What’s next for you? If your family ran a race with you, would you stay with them or run your own race?

I love that the whole family got out there to race! Those are some of my favorite memories. Your family is doing great! I know that all the extra training can be tough, but it’s so worth it to see everyone out there, being active and having fun! <3

Sonia recently posted…Diva Half Marathon Race RecapMy Profile

    • Oh goodness how do I keep up with my racing schedule? Honestly Sonia, I have to look at my planner several times a week to see where I’ll be this weekend. If there is a free weekend like this one, we will find something fun to do. A lot of our traveling to races will taper down with the heat but we’ll still be on the go somewhere. Thanks for stopping by!

  17. I don’t think anyone from my family is ever running with me, but we’d certainly work that out ahead of time! When I race with friends, the rare times I’m racing with friends my pace, we might be together for part of the race, but we’ll still do our own things.

    Sounds like a smashing weekend!

  18. I had sopapillas this weekend between Saturday and Sunday. It was one order and I split it in two. I figured with my training, and craving Tex Mex, why not go all out? I hadn’t had good Tex Mex for quite a while, maybe not since December.

  19. I love that your family ran a 5k together! That’s awesome! I love sweets and will probably never give up real desserts forever. So we often have cookies (homemade) or froyo in our house. I don’t indulge everyday but I figure I work out so I can enjoy some yummy foods ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Give up real desserts forever, hush yo mouth! ๐Ÿ™‚ I couldn’t do it anyway. I love my sweet tooth and we do think alike, I don’t have sweets like this every day but isn’t that part of the point of working out or running just a little bit further… ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Christine for dropping by! I wonder what your mom will bring you back from London?

I believe that too about being active and happy at the same time. It’s been no easy task some days getting my family out to run but I am amazed at their willingness. I think we all had a great time.

  23. I LOVE that you all ran a 5K together. I know what you mean about rolling with the punches when you’ve already run in the morning but people want to be active in the PM. It’s how I ended up running 6 miles Saturday morning, and not even 2 hours later walking another 5.

I’ve been trying to get the BF to run a half marathon with me. He has run some in the past. But since our schedules are odd we would each need to train a lot on our own. I would do it, but not sure if he would. So, maybe I should start smaller with a 5K. Not sure if I would stay with him or not. Guess it depends on how slow he was running. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Haha

Oh, and so glad that quote resonated with you. It really spoke to me! ๐Ÿ™‚
