weekly wrap 103

This week our Guest Host is Darlene from My First 5k and More. I got the pleasure of meeting Darlene at Holly’s when we got together for a #HolottaFun girls weekend back in December. I had been envious of all of Darlene’s adventures for some time. She works hard but she also travels a lot and has so much fun. I think she has friends in just about every state!  Please go by and visit Darlene!

Holly and I may be taking a much-needed break but we sure do appreciate all of you who continue to make this link up so great. If you’d like to be a part of the Guest Host series let us know.

Last week was a muddy mess but I am in a better place, I think, and we are moving forward. It may be at a snail’s pace but forward is a speed, right?

Weekly Wrap 103

My “Water” theme continues with “Warm Waters” this week. I chose warm because I got out in the middle of the lake several times this weekend and in places, it was like warm bath water. I wish I had a thermometer to tell just how warm the water was. I thought it would be fun to actually list the past weeks and theme’s. Let’s see what started it and how long it has been:

Weekly Activity

Happy to report I have my Garmin back!

After leaving it at the River all last week, my friend found it and brought it home to me! I never realized how much I would stress over not logging my runs with it.

Sunday – Rest
Monday – Leg Day
Tuesday – Run 3.15 Miles
Wednesday – Run 1 mile and heavy shoulders
Thursday – Rest
Friday – 3.0 Sunrise Miles
Saturday – 5 Sunrise Miles

My motivation has been lacking in the running department. I used my missing Garmin as a crutch last week but I have her back now and I’m still not putting in the miles I once was and speed well, it’s gone BUT I’m out there! I have to realize I ask my old body to race and race a lot from Fall all the way through Spring, I must be lenient with her during the Summer.

In case you missed seeing my Instagram posts, we are back at the lake camping with some friends of ours. You know I love to take pictures of the water and sunrise and sunsets out here so I’m going to share some with you.

Weekly Wrap 103 Warm Waters

After getting in late Thursday night I made it a point to get up early to see the sunrise over the back part of the lake. I have so been missing this!

Weekly Wrap 103 Warm Waters

My friend Lisa and I enjoyed a sunset cruise out on their pontoon Friday after supper

Weekly Wrap 103 Warm Waters

Another sunrise picture, this time on Saturday morning while I was out getting my run on. I had to work some so I needed to get my miles in early. Turned out I didn’t have to work long, thank goodness.

Weekly Wrap 103 Warm Waters

We spent most of the afternoon out on the water. We’d pull people on the tube then get out in the middle of the lake to swim. I’m not much a fan of being in the water but this was nice. I enjoyed it very much.

Saturday night we grilled steaks and enjoyed visiting with our friends. There was a front coming through and it was a very nice breeze outside. We also had homemade ice cream too! It was so very good! This is my happy place! I sure love it out here!

I’m going to leave you with an incident that happened in our community that really has sparked some reactions. We have a nice set of trails many of us enjoy. This weekend two ladies were walking the trails when a man followed them closely. When they stopped at a picnic table to let him go on by he exposed himself to them.  The ladies basically walked off and called authorities as they finished the trail. They turned away anyone they met on the trail so they wouldn’t encounter the same thing. My question to you is what do you think you would have done?

I just think with it being two of us and only one of him we could have done something, something else besides walking away. I’d sure like to teach him some lessons about it. I may be on the extreme side but I’d like nothing more but to “fix” it where he wouldn’t have anything to expose anymore. Just saying. Tell me what you would do.

Cheers,
Tr!c!@

  1. I’m loving all of your photos from the lake. It just seems so peaceful there!

Ugh, that’s awful about the man exposing himself to those women on the trail. I don’t understand why a person would do this? Totally insane. I probably would have had a few choice words for him as I don’t usually bite my tongue lol
Kimberly G recently posted…Chicago Marathon Training Recap – Week 9My Profile

  2. That’s really disturbing about the man on your trails. I hope that doesn’t happen again! Your water adventures sound so fun!

  3. You make a very good point that you race so frequently for so long that you should really take this time to recharge and not worry about the miles. You’re still keeping a very nice base of running! That trail incident is awful. What’s wrong with people?! I could think of all sorts of things I’d like to say in that situation, but in reality I’m sure I wouldn’t have said anything and continued on my way. You never know when someone has some sort of weapon on them, making a bad situation even worse. Ugh.

  4. Wow those sunrise photos almost make me want to get up early to see them-almost 🙂 I love the warm water as well so peaceful

  5. I probably wouldn’t do anything either. Although I’d probably be so shocked. But that’s scary, and scary what might have happened if it had only been one woman.

On a brighter note, what beautiful photos! And I think a little “break” (hey, you’re still running!) during the summer is just fine.

    • I shouldnt feel guilty I know but I’m getting better about it. People are crazy sometimes I hate it even happens.

  6. I would have just walked away. Those ladies did the right thing by warning others.
It’s definitely been a good week to be in or on the water. Our pool was like bath water today.

  7. EEEEWWWWW to that creep on the trail! I honestly don’t know what I’d do, but I’m leaning more towards walking away quickly and calling the authorities. I wouldn’t want the dude to think I was challenging him. again, EEEWWWW. I love all your water pics 😉
Kim Hatting recently posted…Epiphanies AplentyMy Profile

    • In a perfect world we’d beat the crap out of him but I guess in a perfect world it wouldn’t have happened. We deal with enough out there this shouldn’t be one of them.

  8. What a creep! I don’t know what I would have done, but I don’t think I would have been able to remain calm —> which has to be the best option. Freak the guy out by screaming and it may turn into something worse. Although pepper spray in the right place???
AmyC recently posted…Sunday Runday Favorite MomentsMy Profile

  9. Obviously, the creeper on the trail is disturbed so I probably would have just gotten away as fast as I could. Who knows what psycho thing he’d do if he was confronted? Better safe than sorry. Your water pics are lovely! You know I love me some water. When am I going to see you on a water ski in one of them?

  10. That is scary and gross. Sure I’d like to do more but in the heat of the moment and being shocked and all, I’d probably get away and call authorities as well. Some real sickos out there.
Your pics are beautiful. Glad you’re making the most of these summer days!

  11. LOL, you crack me up, but you never know how dangerous a person might be, so getting away and calling the cops is the option I’d have to vote for. 😉

Your lake photos are just plan gorgeous. I’d want to sit and stare and not worry about running.

  12. I so hated to hear this story as well regarding our beloved trails. There’s just no ‘safe’ place anymore. I’m glad you had a less stressful week and got the opportunity to do your favorite thing this weekend! Miss you girl!

  13. That’s really scary! I don’t love going on our trail by myself so I avoid it however, when I with a friend I feel more confident. I would have reported it and starting running away from the man. Sorry to hear this happened in your community.

  14. Yikes. That is very disturbing about that man. I would have walked away too and those ladies did the right thing. Great to hear you have your Garmin back. Nice sunrise pics too!

  15. Wow, what a beautiful picture of the sunrise! I’m so looking forward to our vacation in a couple of weeks since we’ll be staying on the right side of the island to see what is supposed to be a breathtaking sunset. I’m looking forward to watching it every single night while we’re on vacation.

  16. Wow that’s awful!!! I don’t know what I would have done. So sorry. Yikes!!
Hope this week goes better for you. Enjoy that gorgeous scenery and keep sharing pics!

  17. Isn’t it funny how much we rely on our little gadgets that encourage us to be active? I often wonder HOW people ran for all of those years before we had iPods, heart rate monitors, and step counters!

  18. I always have my phone with me, so I’d try to take a picture to send to the authorities. If they have a description or picture, that could help track him down.

  19. I always love your sunrise pictures, so pretty! Time on the water has to be so nice…I need to find a way to escape this summer!

I don’t know what I would have done if a man did that to me while on the trail. Hopefully I’d at least tell him off so that HE ran away!

  20. I love both of your sunrise over the lake pictures. They’re gorgeous! Quick question that I always think of when I read about you being out in the water. Are alligators a concern or are they not in that area?

    Thanks for the linkup!

  21. Hopefully he will get caught! You never know -some just expose themselves and have mental issues, but some progress on to more violent acts, scary! I am not consistent about carrying my pepper spray, but I would have soaked the crap out of him if I had it on me.

Let your body rest 🙂 You have run hard for sure during the rest of the year! Keep enjoying that water!

  22. I don’t know what I would have done besides call the police…I’m pretty nonconfrontational when I’m alone, especially when I don’t know the person. In these days and ages I’m a little hesitant to confront someone because of all the shootings and stuff that happen when people get mad!

  23. I’d definitely get away fast, and call the authorities. Hopefully he will get caught… what a creep!

Those are some beautiful sunrise pictures!

  24. Aww. You are so sweet. I wish I had a friend in very state. But I now have one in Mississippi.

The water up North is still cold…barely 70 degrees. And I am a wimp.

I love your water theme because I just love anything with a view of the water. Your pics are amazing. Keep ’em coming.

Thanks for the guest host opportunity. it’s been a blast.

    See you in Vegas.

  25. Beautiful pics my friend and talk about someone who gets around? You have been hard at it! I certainly agree forward is forward and 5 miles is pretty dang good! The crazy man on the trail, well, it is always better to be safe than sorry so we can live to run another adventure!

  26. I guess I’d just walk away from the perv and call the police. Pretty sure he wants a reaction–that’s why they do it, right? Ick.

  27. Hey Tricia! looks gorgeous as per usual!

I would definitely walk away from the expose-er and call the police. Hopefully I would be in a situation where it was easy to do that. I had this happen to me before but on the L-train in Chicago (many years ago) – in this case I also walked away. There were tons of people though and if memory serves correctly I was not the only one who moved away from him.

  28. I would have done the same as those ladies on the trail…it’s probably the safest option, but also I tend to freeze up in stressful situations and only think of what I should have done later. Once a guy did this to my sister and I while driving down the highway on a motorcycle…we didn’t have the presence of mind to get his license plate, but I suspect karma caught up to him if he tried that very often!

  29. I probably would have done exactly what the two women did – gotten away as quickly as possible and called the police. Thankfully I’ve never had that happen, but have heard stories from the trails I run on. I always wonder what I would do if that ever happened.

  30. Ugh about the guy on the trail – both gross and disturbing! Unfortunately, we’ve had a similar incident here recently on one of the popular trails – just ridiculous! I know the smarter, safer thing to do would be to walk away, but I think I might have a tough time keeping my mouth shut!
