7 Ways to Know If You Have Found Your Passion?

7 Ways to know if you have found your Passion?

Happy Wednesday Y’all! I hope you are having a great week, today on the blog I’m talking about passion and knowing you’ve found yours.

There are so many things we can be passionate about. For me if you’ve read my blog long you know I use the term “Building a Better Me” all the time. It’s right at the top of my twitter page and in most of my profile bios. It is MY moto, ย my statement to express my goal. That goal is to strive to be a better version of myself every day. I haven’t always had this passion for building a better me, no that is something else I’ve talked about too. Wondering where I’d be if I had worked on my passion before I got “old” ย older.

But better late than never right?

Have you found your Passion? Do you know how to tell if you have?

I’m going to give you 7 ways you know you have found your passion and at the same time I’m going to tell you how each one relates to my passion = Building a better ME

7 ways you know you’ve found your passion:

  1. It get’s you excited. ย You can’t stop talking about, researching about it, writing about it, living it. How does building a better me get me excited? I know that with each run, with each workout, each time I eat a healthy meal I’m making a better version of myself. I’m doing something good for myself and that makes me feel good.
  2. You can’t do without it – You just can’t live without IT, whatever it is. It consumes you and you are controlled by it. How does this relate to Building a better Me? I feel like I let myself down when I don’t do the things I think I should. I am my best accountability partner. I want to feel proud of myself, I want to accomplish my goals, I want to do better, and I want to push myself.
  3. You let other things fall by the wayside. Humm I’m so guilty of this, my house, my laundry, my work…just to name a few. I do tend to become overly consumed with my passion.
  4. You make room for it. I do make myself a priority! I don’t think that is anything to be ashamed of. I think for me it has gotten easier, and luckily my family is on board with my passion….most of the time ๐Ÿ˜‰
  5. It’s not a chore. Would I agree it’s hard sometimes? Yes, by all means building a better me is darn hard work. Yes, I’d rather skip the burpees or running in 90-degree weather with 90% humidity, but I always fall back on the motivation quote of “Nothing worth having comes easy”
  6. You want to succeed at it. I do want to succeed at being a better person. That doesn’t always mean I do everything right either, sometimes the things I learn, I learn by my many mistakes.
  7. You start to notice friends, family and total strangers ask you questions about your passion! Yes, just the other day my sister asked me about shin splints and running shoes. I love to share my experiences with others and I want them to learn from my mistakes.

I hope these 7 ways help you know if you’ve found YOUR passion. I also hope you’ll share it with me by leaving me a comment.

What is your passion?

What do you let take a backseat to your passion?

My journey wouldn’t be what it is without my passion for making myself better.

  1. Great tips Tricia! Aside from family, my passions are fitness, my garden and travel mostly. The cleanliness of the house is the first thing to take a back seat to those.

  2. #3, most definitely. Yes, the house definitely takes a back seat to exercise, preparing healthy meals, and taking care of the animals.

    That is a wonderful list!

I often say to my husband after a race, where good or bad I’m up & bubbly (unless in pain), that I want him to find something that makes him feel that way.

  3. #4 all the way! I think that no matter what it is, if it is important to you, you WILL make the time. I’m so happy that you have found your passion in life! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Running is definitely my passion. As is my family and my job. All 3 are pulling at me right now and I’m feeling a little burnt out! I think once the marathon is over, I’ll have a little more balance again.

  5. What a great list! I can definitely say yes to all 7 when it comes to running. I wish I could say that about some other things in my life (my job, cleaning, laundry…) but oh well!

  8. I’ve always loved your motto. I wish I had thought of it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Housecleaning? What’s that? Although I really enjoy working in my yard, I’ve had to let it take a backseat too. Other than running, you know I’m passionate about waterskiing. I already miss it.

  9. I love “build a better me”! What a great personal motto. Now I need to come up with a motto ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I think you have found it! I am with you, I consider my runs and/or classes dates with myself, that is why I right them in my planner and Lord knows I am not standing myself up!!! I have never figured laundry to make me a better person ๐Ÿ™‚ A good glass of wine, now that makes me a funnier person ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy hump day!

  11. Absolutely YES to all of these! Great post!!!
I am so with you on these, I think when you find your passion or passions you just get excited about any little prospect about it, and like you said you just find a way to make time.
I have so many passions that I am equally or nearly that passionate about. I absolutely love decorating for brides and their wedding days, I am still loving blogging, YAY, and when I am able to run, I am so passionate about it. But I am also a mountain girl, and sometimes just being up in the mountains is the one thing that can fix all my problems and its the ME place I know I belong!

    • Thank you Kristy! It has taken me a long time to really grasp the purpose in Life that I have. I think I stumbled around for so long I thought that was just what I was supposed to do. It’s so nice to have that passion and focus in something now and I’m not looking back! I can so relate to the “ME place” mine might not be in the mountains but I know that place! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Yes! I can definitely identify with these. Cycling is my passion. I really enjoy triathlon, but cycling takes the front seat over swimming and running (and when I’m at work I think about cycling and races I might do and which bike to use for a given ride).
