Weekly Wrap #3 Kenny on the Beach

Gosh is it Monday already? I still have a weekend hangover! Hang on let me grab some coffee….(a few minutes goes by) Ok better.

Ahhh, It IS Monday, Good Morning bright and early too! (Well I guess you could be reading this at night) Either way, good day to you!

I am once again co-hosting this link up with my friend Holly from HoHo Runs! We would love to have YOU join in with us Wrapping up YOUR week however you see fit. There are a few rules we’ll like you to be conscience of and you can see them here –> Weekly Wrap Rules

Let get right to it. I had a pretty good week, getting back into the routine of being at home and not at the campground. I was still living out of the RV for the good part of the week!

Monday – Did get in my morning walk. Personal Training – we worked on legs but she also threw in 100 sit-ups on the ball!

Loving this months Fabletics! Look for an updated review soon! 🙂

Tuesday – I got up for a 3 mile run around my house, this was a punishment run for having a few drinks last night 🙁 Slow but I was obedient …. the drinks sounded good at the time…

Wednesday – Not much walking this morning, PT was all about arms then a 3 minute plank!!! Well I could come down an rest for a few seconds but she also stopped the clock. I got all 3 minutes done! This was a first for me!

Thursday – I really focused on my eating today. Logged everything, no snacking and drank lots and lots of water with Nuun! Trying to hydrate for my long run on Saturday.

Friday – My walking routine has gone to the chickens…no really, rain kept me from refilling all the waterers and topping off all the food in preps for our trip so it all had to be done this morning. More trips to the bathroom hydrating all day today too.

Saturday –I got in my 11 miles this morning on the Gulf Coast in Biloxi. My husband even rode his bike the whole way with me.Weekly Wrap

Boy it was still hard, I stopped my watch when we stopped and I was still so freaking slow. We went down a pier an was going to stop to hydrate but got to talking to a man there. He was a runner an you know us runners, we have a lot to talk about. I think I spent a little too much rest time. I felt great for the next mile or so but afterwards I did struggle to finish, course it was warmer and the sun was beating down on me.

Weekly wrap

I channeled that inner voice who wanted to quit, but I concentrated on my breathing and the views. I did finish!!! Yay!

Sunday –Today we rode our bikes everywhere we went. We stopped a lot but got in quite a workout. I did notice when I got up I was not sore at all. Tight in my hips but really not effected by my long run yesterday!

I’ve really indulged this week. I did want to mention if you missed it I got the great opportunity to review a Bulu Box! Don’t know what Bulu Box is? Then you need to hop on over HERE! Also there is a 50% off discount for you to give them a try!Bulubox

On our way down to the coast we stopped at a TGIFridays for supper. I had a drink that had some vodka an cotton candy. Yes. They poured the drink over the cotton candy and it was ahhmazing!

Cotton Candy Drink

After running Saturday,  I was so hungry! I showered and across from us was a Waffle House so that is where we went!

Waffle House

What a lot of food!

Ok I didn’t eat all of it but I put a hurting on it for sure! We also couldn’t pass up the buffet at the casino later that night. Sunday after riding bikes down the beach we stopped at Shaggy’s for lunch. I had grilled chicken over a bed of coconut rice with some type of mango salsa it was so good too! For a snack on the way home we stopped back in Hattiesburg and I had a Auntie Anne Pretzel. 🙂 Back to watching what I eat now.

A few fun things earlier in the week, like my giveaway which ended Tuesday night and I got to award the winner on Wednesday. That was FUN and a relief that everything went smoothly. By the way,

Congratulations, Karen!

The other fun part really started towards the end of the week when I could see the light at the end of the work tunnel. I then started to concentrate (Focus if you missed Wednesday Word, Ha like the way I just slipped that one in there) on the plans for the weekend.

As I mentioned, my sweet husband bought us tickets to go see Kenny Rogers down in Biloxi. This has got to be my very favorite song because it reminds me so much of the memories I have of my granddaddy!

Since I had 11 miles I thought I’d schedule the both of us a full body massage for that afternoon. Let me just say this experience was truly fabulous! I felt like a pampered queen. We got our couples massage and then we could enjoy what they call the wet area. Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. I  think there were a few more things but I these were the ones I relaxed in.

They were all nice but I really enjoyed the sauna, I felt like all the toxins were just melting away. The staff was great tending to my every need. They had showers with everything you needed from body scrub, salon shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hair dryers, brushes combs, deodorant, cotton balls, makeup remover all kinds of stuff. It is not something we could afford to do all the time but for a special occasion it was wonderful!

That night was the concert and it was out on the lawn. You bring your chairs and just relax and enjoy the show! It was great by the way!

It is always fun to get away with just my husband and I. We are very spontaneous and just go and do as we please. We like exploring new and different places. We had a ball in the casinos, and we went to several. We even came out ahead! We work hard but we also play hard!

I’m so glad you stopped by and I do hope you joined us in our Weekly Wrap I love reading how you wrapped up your week!

INQUIRING MINDS want to know:

Do you try to hydrate more than normal before a race or long run?

What do you use to hydrate? Plain water, add anything, certain kind, Nuun? Comment below.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. Wow! What a week you had!

I love that cotton candy drink from Fridays!!

    The spa sounds fab!!

I have tried so many hydration products and I have to say-water wins out every time!

    Have a great week!

    • Thank you Tamieka I did have quite a week! I forget the name of that drink, I should go back and look it up. It was so good and so sweet. Not something I usually like but hey it had me at vodka and cotton candy!!! 🙂

  2. Wow, busy week ! Putting cotton candy in a drink cracks me up ! How sweet was it ?
I hydrate a lot, as I find it helps my running so much. I LOVE Nuun but I need to mail order it here in France, you can not find it here.
I indulged way too much this week, last week of vacation. Now it is back to a regular routine, and back to work this morning after 3 weeks off. Boo !
Have a great week and thanks for the link up.

    • Karen it was really sweet, I don’t know if you can see it in the picture but there was like a sugar ring around the glass once I drank it down! I hope your week back to work is treating you kind coming off your vacation! Thanks so much for linking up with us!

  3. Sounds like a fun week! Great job on finishing your long run. That 3 minute plank is so impressive!
The spa sounds amazing right about now.
I do try to hydrate more prior to a long run/race though I’m not always successful. Mostly I drink just plain water, but sometimes I get bored and toss some Nuun in there. Strawberry lemonade is my favorite flavor.
    Have a great week!

    • Strawberry lemonade is good too I like that! I really focused on drinking more water, course the drink at TGIFriday’s the night before didn’t help the matter but I don’t think it was a bad as it could have been!

  4. Oh, I can’t stop thinking about your massage…lovely!! You had a great week, Tricia; way to go with your long run!! It’s been brutal out there, but we’ve gotten a little reprieve from the really tough temperatures over here. You’re READY!! Your husband is a sweetheart for taking the ride with you; that’s awesome! I’m so jealous that you’re going to see Kenny; he is amazing. I try to stay really hydrated all through the week so that I don’t have to worry about it before my long run; I definitely drink Nuun at least once a day, and sometimes more. Thanks so much for hosting the link up and I hope your Monday is great!
Tara @ Running ‘N’ Reading recently posted…Training RecapMy Profile

    • Nuun is my go too drink too! When I go out to eat I usually only drink water with lemon added, except when I decided to have an adult beverage lol! So it’s a shorter run on the agenda for this up coming weekend and then Tupelo, here we come Baby!!! 🙂

  5. Wow, amazing week! I do try to hydrate more before a long workout. I think I probably live in a state of dehydration. I will use electrolytes if it is particularly hot out, but usually just ensuring I’ve got plenty of water.
Kelli recently posted…Stinging Nettles and a Brew PubMy Profile

    • It sure made a difference in my run I can tell. It was very humid and quite warm on the beach despite being just after sunrise. I think my efforts in hydration the days prior paid off. Thanks Kelli for stopping by!

  6. That massage sounds wonderful! I do try to make sure I am hydrating enough before a race, and I love nuun! If I am drinking it throughout the day I use Nuun All day (I don’t like the flavors as much as the regular kind though). After a run I always drink a glass or two of Nuun active. I actually find that I don’t do as well hydrating on my rest days so I need to be really mindful about that especially if I am resting before a tough run or race!
Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine recently posted…Route 66 Marathon Training Week 3My Profile

    • I haven’t tried Nuun All Day yet, I wondered about the flavors so glad you mentioned it! I do great sitting at my desk at work because I usually keep a water bottle but I don’t do so well on the weekends with my water. 🙁

  7. I do like Nuun for hydration too. Looks like your weekend was great! Fun weekends with the hubby are always the best. I bet the Kenny concert was great I guess he will just keep performing forever! I am impressed that the hubby got out there and kept you company for that long run, super sweet! Have a great Monday, back to work!
Mary Beth Jackson recently posted…Week 15 is a wrap! Not what I expected….My Profile

    • Mary Beth Kenny Rogers was just awesome! I was in a different world singing to Lucille that night ha! I too am surprised the hubs got up that early with me considering it was midnight when we got in the bed. He’s a trooper though. I think he enjoyed it once he got on up. I was sure thankful he went so I didn’t have to carry my water or gels! Hope you too have a great week! 🙂

  8. Looks like a great week for you. Especially that spa day.

I use Nuun to rehydrate after a hot sweaty run. I use Tailwind Nutrition for fuel and hydration on the long run. Otherwise, I use water!
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home recently posted…Marathon Training week 5: 99 problemsMy Profile

    • I’ve heard so many things about tailwind. I do need to try it! I wish I could afford to have a spa day every month! Ahhh that would be so nice!

  9. I so love a massage! I really need to book one, it’s been over a month. But I can’t imagine my husband doing one, too. He never has. Has no interest. I don’t understand.

And saunas are the best, too! The pool I swim at is closed for maintenance. I think I miss the sauna the most!

Trust me, you are not slow. And you’re doing great.

    • Well Judy here is your reminder: Call and make you that appointment for a massage, ha! Goodness I can’t imagine anyone not wanting one either, maybe he just doesn’t know what to expect. I have only been in a few, like 3, saunas in my entire life! That spa treatment was the exact reason I wasn’t sore! 🙂

  10. Sounds like quite a week and weekend. I’d rather not run outside when it’s humid, but I still feel it inside. Humidity hit this weekend and I found I was more thirsty than normal. It’s all about listening to my body.

  11. Great week! Awesome job on getting your 11 miler done! And 3 minute plank, way to go. I’m working on that one. Jealous of your massage and sauna experience. I need to go!

  12. I do hydrate before long runs and races. I live in Miami – it’s crazy hot and humid here. I use water, salt pills, Skratch pre-hydration and sometimes even pedialyte the night before. Sounds like you had a wonderful week. Fun to read about it.

  14. I have been wanting to do a full body massage for awhile now – you may push me to it

I tried Nuun once & it made me feel funny – I’m so sensitive. I need to find a good hydration booster that seems more natural.
Rebecca Jo recently posted…Weekly wrapMy Profile

    • Oh good RJ go ahead and make you an appointment right after a workout, it’s the best! Did you try one with out the caffeine? It reads Energy I think on the bottle. I know they make several kinds. 🙂

  15. ha! I’ve had that drink at Fridays and I love it 🙂 truth, I think i have tried everything they offer, it’s one of our favorite spots because it super close to home.
Great job on the long run! I am impressed you can knock it out in the sun. if I don’t get go at the crack of dawn, I melt down. That’s so nice hubby rode along 🙂 Mine went with me some last summer. I hope he does again when my runs get longer.
You look great in the Fabletics!
I love Nuun, I use it my pack for almost all my runs and my gym sessions. I tend to drink water about three days out from a race, usually 90 ounces a day. I don’t like anything in the water unless I am actually working out. On race day I never carry anything I just take water at the stops and usually Gatorade about mile 7 or 8 for a half 🙂 if it’s really hot one I take Gatorade usually starting about mile 4.
Kenny Rogers is going to be fun!
Karen recently posted…Wrapping It UpMy Profile

    • Ha then you know the blackberry drink is awesome too at TGIF! It was a toss up between those two! I love the Fabletics! I have only skipped one month in about 6! I always find something I want! They fit good too!

  16. I’m a big fan of Nuun and try to hydrate in the day before longer runs and especially races. I’ll confess that I’m glad I finally finished my tube of Cherry limeade (which I didn’t love, despite my love of Sonic Cherry Limeades) and can go back to the other flavors I like better. 🙂

  17. My ILs live down near you. I could not run in that heat and humidity in the summer. Heck, it was warmer than I like when we went down in December LOL.

    Good job on your runs!
MCM Mama Runs recently posted…Coffee and beer: two great tastes that taste great togetherMy Profile

    • Ha Erika we don’t know any different lol! I will have to say I ran after work at 5PM all last summer. Only did my long runs in the mornings training for this same half I am now. This year, IDK if I’m getting older or what but I can’t do it at 5PM anymore. With temps in upper 90’s and humidity 80% or higher it’s just not safe! I’ve moved all my runs to mornings. Now I like it so much when the time changes I’m going to be in a mess trying to figure out where to run safely in the pitch dark at 6AM…. #runnerproblems 🙁

  18. Sounds like a great week! Way to go on 11 miles! The full body massage/wet area sounds like a great experience! I need to book on of those.

    • I sure wish I could do them more often! Really made a big difference in my recovery! I believe I could have ran another 11 miles the very next day!

  19. Sounds like a great week! Way to go on 11 miles! The full body massage/wet area sounds like a great experience! I need to book one of those.

  20. LOL — the drinks always SOUND like a good idea! 100 situps? Do you have abs of steel? The hubs and I had a couples massage in Jamaica once. He didn’t enjoy it as much as I did. Yours is a good man to ride his bike while you run. I know Kenny (and Dolly) very well…I wake up many mornings singing Islands in the Stream. I wish I didn’t, but it is what it is. I know you enjoyed that concert! How different does he really look? Enjoy your week!
HoHo Runs recently posted…Weekly Wrap #3My Profile

    • I do not have abs of steel more like rolls of flab lol! They are easier on the ball than on the flat ground and I have to say I’ve had to do 100 of those too! Greg is really great support for me he tries even though he doesn’t always want to go and do but he knows it makes me happy. 🙂 Hush yo mouth nothing wrong with singing Kenny and Dolly! Well to answer your questions, I had binoculars there in my bag and I on purpose did not use them, that bad! When I looked up there all I saw was the kenny with the perfect hair, perfect beard and mustache! 🙂

  21. Looks like a great week! Kenny Rogers eh? I love him. I saw him in concert a few years back. Doesn’t look like himself anymore does he? Since my name is Lucie, I often get people calling/singing Lucille to me! LOL Nothing like a spa day once in a while huh? Have a good week!

    • He does not look like he use too, ahhhh not even close and ya know he would have aged so dang well too! Loved the spa and your right nothing like it!!! Great week to you too! 🙂

  22. I would love to do a long run along the Gulf Coast in Biloxi!!! I’ve never been to Mississippi, period, and that sounds like it would be so scenic. What an amazing week of training and eating and music that you had. A 3-minute plank – WOW. I could definitely use a spa day like yours, too!
Emily @ Out and About recently posted…Fort2Base race recapMy Profile

    • It’s a different change of pace for sure! Made the 11 miles a little better too! I hope I don’t have to do another 3 minute plank for awhile. I know I need too but dang they are hard! Thanks for stopping by Emily!
