It’s that time again for the Weekly Wrap, link up your posts with us, Holly from HoHo Runs and myself here at MissSippiPiddlin each week. ย For all the scoop and a few rules too, visit the Weekly Wrap Link Up Tab at the top or simply click the words Weekly Wrap.

This 42nd edition is named Vacation Hangover! Honestly, I am still in a fog. Don’t get me wrong I had a great time in the mountains but right at the same time, I have never felt worse on vacation either. I have some ideas why and I hope to put a post together on it later.

Reporting things a little different this week so let’s get started:

Weekly Wrap 42 Vacation Hangover

Sunday – Still in Tennessee, today we all decided to visit Dollywood, well we know how to do a theme park and of course we are the first to arrive from our group, but apparently not the first ones in the park since we were already parked at “F” Parking Lot! No kidding, we found out it was “Bring a Friend” day for season pass holders and we were 2 different random peoples guests. Yes, we both got in Free! SCORE!

We walked a bit, ate some food,ย then stood in line for several of the rides. The wait was crazy, as in “Disney-long-line” Crazy! My phone was again acting up (I soooo need a new phone) so I did not get but a few pictures period.

We did stay until about 6PM then made the trek back to our car. We freshened up at the RV then headed to Gatlinburg on the trolley to meet up with our friends. We were very pleased with the upgrades made to the Trolley system since our last visit. There was a stop right in front of our Campground and you could pull up the site on your phone and get GPS coordinates of your trolley and a minute-by-minute time of arrival. This was so nice!

About 15 minutes later we were hopping off in downtown Gatlinburg. We ate, then enjoyed visiting out by the outdoor fire pit in front of the Bearskin Lodge.

Steps: 21,600

Monday – Our friends were headed home but we still had another day to enjoy. Today would be filled with activity. We took in a Rope Course Challenge. – Not the first picture either! I wasn’t sure I could bring my phone and I sure didn’t want to loose it but turns out I could have gotten some great shots!

This was a fun activity. At just over $100 for the both of us, I’m not sure it was worth the money but it was fun. It wasn’t as challenging as I thought but again it was something we had never done before. There are two courses one for children and one for adults. I secretly wanted to do the kids one cause you climbed through barrels and all! ๐Ÿ™‚

Then we stopped to ride the Alpine Coaster at get this…. Goats on a Roof. Yup, there are goats on top of a building, I can’t make this stuff up y’all!

Ready for Takeoff!

I think he had a ball!

We stopped by the Island and shared lunch at Margaritaville. It’s a favorite of Mr. Sippi’s and now we can’t go there without thinking of Holly and her husband so I had to rub it in and shoot her a picture of where we were. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love you, friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

Stopped to hike up to Grotto Falls. It’s a nice hike they say takes about 1-2 hours round trip. About 3 miles total. It’s an easy hike, you do have to cross a few wet places but there are rocks to stay on.

weekly wrap 42 vacation hangover

It’s really pretty up here. I love the peacefulness and the smell. We saw a quail on the trail and a black bear on the way down, that was pretty cool too! He was just walking through the woods.

After our hike, we relaxed back at the campground. Then went to Pigeon Forge. While eating her earlier we saw they had

The Escape Game

This is another first for us. You pick your game, and you have 1 hours to try and solve the game, or break out. In our case, we had to escape from jail. ย It was so much fun and we met 2 other couples and actually worked really well together. We did not make it within the timeframe but we were sooo close and the closest of anyone that day.

It was not scary at all and you are not really locked in. So if that worries you, need not be afraid! It was a ton of fun and if they have them in your area, you should check it out!

Oh before the game, we ate at Paula Deen’s restaurants. I have never had so much rich and heavy foods! It was amazing, truly amazing but it didn’t help my overall icky feeling.

Dancing Lights at the Island

Steps: 18,000

Tuesday – Well time to pack up and head home. It had rained overnight an was still cool and misty outside. We stopped off at the shopping stores around the Smoky Mountain Knife Works before heading home. Other than gas we did not stop! The Dutchess RV was a rollin! Home by 8:00PM (Record for us!)

Steps: 10,900

Wednesday –ย I was so freaking ready to run I could hardly stand it! I got in 2 miles before work and even after a very busy work day. Got in 3 more sweaty miles! Let me just tell you, it felt wonderful, no better than wonderful! Bed early tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

Ran 5 miles total, 15,700 Steps

Thursday –ย Sometimes this afternoon at work I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ran 3 miles the afternoon with Mr. Sippi at the campground, 16,600 Steps

Friday –ย Busy again at work, tonight we stayed close to home, ate at a local fish camp and came back home to watch a movie. (The Ides of March on Amazon Prime).

Steps: 11,800

Saturday –ย I met up with my friend Tammy and her friend Kim who I had not met. We got in a 4.5 miles trail run. Kim did awesome for her first time on the trails.

weekly wrap 42 vacation hangover

Tammy, Me and Kim just after 4.5 trail run at Bonita Trails

I enjoyed more coffee and a Big Breakfast after all that sweating! Mr. Sippi worked and I ran some errands in town and we had pretty much an uneventful evening at home. We did catch another movie on Amazon this time A Single Shot. Kind of weird but it kept us entertained.

4.5 Mile Morning run, Steps: 17,000

That is a Wrap for this week’s Weekly Wrap 42 Vacation Hangover edition.

I hope you didn’t miss my Friday Five post onย 5 Favorite Things to do on Vacation. I threw it together rather quickly.

Tell me, ever been on a rope course? What about Zipline?

Do you try to get in activity while on vacation or is it all about the RnR?

Every played one of the Escape Games?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Coming Up

Hummm, let me check my calendar….. Oh yea, next weekend we’re headed to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the Memorial Day Weekend. But you can bet I’m gonna get in a run this time. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I have a post ready for Friday as well, shocker I know, where I’m going to explore why I felt so bad last week.

I am sharing in the support love by linking up with a Sunday Fitness and Food Linkup hosted by

Ilka from Ilka’s Blog and

Angela from Marathons & Motivation

I appreciate them both for supporting our link up as well.

I hope each of you have a wonderful week!

  1. Sorry you weren’t feeling well — but you sure got in a lot of stuff for not feeling good!

Mr. Judy doesn’t tend to have a whole lotta energy at the best of times, and apparently my running a half really tires him out. And frankly I was kinda tired too, it’s been a busy month — hey, I didn’t even go shopping! At an outlet!

So it was all about R&R this time.

  2. Looks like a fun trip! I always have a tough time adjusting to being back from vacation, so I don’t know how you handle doing so much traveling! Glad you were able to get in such a good run when you got back! I typically use vacations to relax, but it also depends where I am:)

  3. Sounds like you had a fun time, despite not feeling awesome. We did a ropes course that ended with a zipline when we were in St. Martin a few years back. I didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but it was a ton of fun. (And I totally hear you on the vacation hangover. I have one too.)

  4. Your trip sounds like such a blast – and the ropes course looks amazing! I would love to try that one day!

  5. Your trip sounds like a LOT of activity–much more than I usually do, but I like that you tried so many new things. I’ve never done any of those, but I’d like to some day. Post-cation is the worst!

  6. I love the Alpine Mountain Coaster!! Hubby and I rode it a bunch of times while were there, during the day and at night! We would go back if it wasn’t for the traffic in that area…out of control!
It look likes you had a great time and squeezed lots in!
We were lucky Dollywood was quiet when we were there.
Yay for hiking! I love hiking almost as much as running ๐Ÿ™‚
You did good, getting it all done this week!
Karen recently posted…Darling and DrizzlesMy Profile

    • We really wanted to do the coaster at night but just ran out of time doing everything! Traffic is something else, the trolley up there was the way to go!
Dollywood is usually pretty quiet this time of year I guess it was that bring a friend that had it so crowded!

  7. Your vacation sounds like so much fun!! I would have loved that hike! I have not done a ropes course but I did zip line for the first time last summer. It was fun but terrifying because I’m scared of heights! I loved all your Instagram pics. It looked like you guys had a blast! Have a great week!

  8. I have been to Goats on the Roof, but it was somewhere in N GA. Around Helen maybe? I mean, you gotta visit somewhere named that. It sounds like a wonderful and busy trip. You know I like my adventures when on vacation. I have zip-lined (loved it!) and I think we did a ropes course at Stone Mountain. But, it wasn’t hard or anything. It’s awesome you got into Dollywood for free! I hope Mr. Sippi had a “wastin’ away” cocktail in my honor. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Enjoy your next trip.

I remember seeing a rope course at Stone Mountain but it was closed in December when we went I so wanted to do that too! I want to go back to SM, I’m not sure now we can squeeze it in anytime soon! Did you hear I planned a family trip to Myrtle Beach??? Yup! Staying at a resort campground! Busy Busy! kids will love it, maybe it can be my RnR trip…. maybe!

  11. I hope you do another post on Dollywood and ad the few pics you got. I’ love to hear any tips you might have. My family has been wanting to go there for years.

We just got one of those Escape rooms in our area but haven’t gone yet. It’s pretty pricey so it’s something I’d want to do with a large group!

    • I may be able to help you out with that Meranda. I didn’t get that many pictures this time but I may have pictures from the last time we went. I will look for those. It’s really a neat park. The rides are getting better but not Disney standard, Dollywood is more about the customs of TN and the older bluegrass and country music that Dolly was raised on. The crafts are neat to see, which I like, like the blacksmith shop and all.

  12. We’re the same way–vacations for us are all about being active and seeing as much as we possibly can. I’m always exhausted after my vacation! Sounds likes yours was packed with a lot of fun and different things. We have the escape room game here, but I haven’t done it. I thought it would be scary, so good to know it’s not. I love hiking to the falls. I am a little chicken when it comes to the ziplines, the Alphine coaster, and theme park rides. We did go to Dollywood when we were there. I enjoyed playing some games while Michael rode the rides. I’m sorry he had to go by himself. We made several trips to that knife store you’re talking about. It was huge!

  17. escape games have not come to France yet, not sure people would go for it. However there are a TON of rope climbing courses. I have done one but am not very comfortable with the heights. There are usually 4 or 5 to choose from, from really easy to really hard. I have seen people get stuck and panic in the middle and the course employees have to come out and get them. Not fun.

    Real bear ? Scary !

Well there were 2 Asian girls. They were so petite I doubt they weighed 100lbs soaking wet. Well each of them got stuck, out in the middle and they can’t speak English either. They were scared to death! The guides had to go out and get them, because they couldn’t get them to understand they could grab the wire and pull themselves in.

Stopping for a quick hike is one thing I do love to do to break up a long drive. Something to stretch my legs before I sit for so long, so that Grotto Falls hike sounds like the perfect distance.

    • I tend to be more like this too Jessie. I want to get out and see things even if we’ve been to an area many times before. And since I eat way more on vacation I need to burn off some of it!!

  28. The rope course seems super fun. I think I would have tried that unless it’s super high up and you can look down and see how far up you are. Yikes. I have ziplined once and it was pretty fun. The prison escape game is something I think my husband would like doing. That’s cool that you guys did so well. You might have to do it again so you can WIN. 48. Sounds like a fun trip! That hike looks really fun as does ziplining! It always does feel so good to run after a time off during vacation and eating richer foods than normal.

  49. This is so fun!! I love your vacations. I’m coming with you on your next one. Hahaha. ๐Ÿ™‚

  50. Goats on a roof? That is so funny! I am sorry you weren’t feeling 100%, hopefully it was just a passing phase and will blow over quickly. I’ve never been to Dollywood but it sounds like a blast! Your travels are always filled with so much adventure. You’re going to tear it up in Mississippi next weekend, as aptly named for your blog title. =)

    • I know right, where do they come up with these names? It did make us stop though so I guess their advertising tactics worked!
Who knows what we’ll get into this weekend. I think that’s part of the adventure is to not have a plan!

  51. Awesome score … free entry in an amusement park! Sounds like you had a great vacay. Hope you are feeling better.

  52. Wow! What a vacation, no wonder your hung over!!! Loved all the pictures and my how the alpine slides have changed since 1988! The last time I was there the alpine slides did not have the fences around the tracks. It was just the slide and a two seater coaster and a gear shifter. Man I need to go back! I’ll be passing through those mountains this summer so there may be a side trip involved!
I do hope you are able to get a little rest and running in this week!!!

    • Seems like when the Alpine Slides first became popular there they were not on a track, is that what you remember too? These were on one and rightfully so cause fence or not I would have come off it and it would not have been pretty nor felt very good!

  53. I have a big vacation hangover today. Got back late last night.

7 days of running, 7 days of tennis, 7 days of beach, 7 days of eating out in awesome restaurants.

I am pooped but I have to head to VT this weekend to run 13.1 miles!!

We have an Escape Room and definitely want to do it.

Looks like you had a fun time even though you didn’t feel your best.

    Hope you’re back to normal.

  54. You do stay active on your vacations too Darlene! It wipes you our for sure but had you laid around all day for 7 days wouldn’t feel equally yucky?
Good luck in VT remember, you can rest went you get old right?!?! ๐Ÿ™‚
Wouldn’t the escape room game be fun for all of us to do on the Beach? I’ll have to check into it.

  55. Sounds like a busy, but fun vacation Tricia! I’m sorry to hear you were not feeling well, hope you are feeling better now. I did a zipline once in Costa Rica and I was scared to death. It was in the tree tops and I am afraid of heights, not a good combo… It was “Fear Factor” for me!! As far as exercise on vacation, it depends. A lot of our vacations are super active, so I count that in, but I do like to get in a few short runs. I wanted to thank you so much for giving a big shout out to the Sunday Fitness & Food Link-Up! Ilka & I really appreciate it & we both love your Weekly-Wrap!! I have been so busy with the end of school year activities that I have not been writing a weekly wrap-up, but hope to join back in next weekend!! Have a wonderful week!! ๐Ÿ™‚
