It’s that time again for the Weekly Wrap, link up your posts with us, Holly from HoHo Runs and myself here at MissSippiPiddlin each week. Β For all the scoop and a few rules too, visit the Weekly Wrap Link Up Tab at the top or simply click the words Weekly Wrap.

This 43rd edition (already???) is rightly called Memorial Day Weekend. In case you are reading this on Sunday, better to be early right? In honor of Memorial Day, I celebrate all those who served and wish to say, thank you for the sacrifices you made to this great country and allowing me to enjoy the freedoms I have. I can hardly believe May is within days of being over! What??? What better way to celebrate the start of Summer than a trip to the beach?

Let’s dive into my week, shall we?

Sunday – 16,900 Steps
Monday – Training w/Tammy at the Gym, 3.1 miles run Negative splits Boom! 19,000 Steps total
Tuesday – 2.25 mile AM Run, 14,170 Steps
Wednesday – Up early with Mr. Sippi 3.11 mile run, Training at the gym, and a kettle bell class tonight. Wow, pooped! 15,800 Steps
Thursday – 17, 200 steps
Friday – 13,000 steps
Saturday – St. Clare Seafood Festival 5k, 10 mile bike ride, ended the day with 17,500 steps

I felt like I had a great week of not only activity but my eating habits were much better as well. I succeeded in getting in a class at the gym and it was quite the workout. I’ve never done crossfit but I’ve heard of the WOD and this I think was similar. We did lots of kettlebell swings, squats, push ups, mountain climbs and situps without a whole lot of rest in between either.

My workweek was really busy so on Friday afternoon I was ready to get my 3-day weekend started. We packed things up and headed to the MS Coast to celebrate. We stayed in an RV park on a more deserted part of the beach, which I loved! We could see the water from our site even though it was across the road. We were very pleased with where we stayed.

I got to enjoy the sunrise both Saturday and Sunday.

I sat my alarm to get up in time to see the sun on Saturday and Sunday too, and neither disappointed me!

Saturday Mr. Sippi and I both ran in a 5k just down the road and both of us placed in our ages. Him 2nd and me 3rd. I was just tickledΒ and I got a pretty cool shell as a medal too!

We both had great races, Mr. Sippi a 5k PR 33:52 and me a 29:27 I’ll take it any day but especially in this heat and humidity!

After the race Mr. Sippi watched baseball and I enjoyed a bike ride down the beach. I stopped off at the festival where the 5k was and treated myself to homemade baked goods too! This also may have happened before dinner.

We ate a wonderful meal at a local place on Saturday and again for Sunday at lunch.

You must drop by my Instagram and other social media accounts to fill in the blanks on what all we are getting into!

I must go now because this just happened:

Yes, we bought a kayak. Our only goal is to NOT make the local news!

How are you celebrating this weekend? Β Did you grill out? What did you have to eat?

Do you have a family member that is serving now or in the past?

Cheers,

Tr!c!@

  1. It looks like you are having a blast! Congrats to you and Mr. Sippi on your AG placements! And a PR for him! I know he must be proud. That kayak is going to be a great workout for your arms, don’t you think? Any patriotic holiday reminds me of my Dad who served in WWII. Safe travels back home!

    • We had a great time this weekend and didn’t want to leave. What can we do to persuade you and PoPo to get an RV??
The kayak was fun I was a bit worried in the ocean with all that water but actually, it was really nice.

  16. Yay, you bought a kayak! You are going to have so much fun! We kayaked on the Chicago River last fall and had a blast! Our creek is too shallow or I would buy one in a heartbeat.

You could say we had a barbecue… We invited 100 families and about a third were in town and were able to come. Because of the rain (yes more rain) we had to keep it mostly indoors this year. We had lots of fun, but it was unfortunate that we couldn’t set up the games in the back yard like we usually do.

    Thanks for the linkup!

    • I’m so very glad to have another 5k behind me. Honestly, I hate them cause I feel like I have to run so much faster than my normal pace. I need to do more of them to get over this. I was tickled Mr. Sippi snagged an AG award too and a PR for him.
It was hot that day too but the breeze from the ocean made it much better.

Wendy Hammond recently posted…Bayshore Marathon Recap: I did it!My Profile

    • The festival was held at a Catholic church, they really had quite the setup. The church is right across the road from the beach and they had carnival rides, games, the 5k, car show, vendors and of course the food. Really a lot going on all weekend long. Even bands that played on an outside stage at night and a fireworks show!

  22. Congratulations on your awards at the 5K! I love that it was a run at the beach and the medal is a shell. That’s a really fun and creative award. I love the kayak and bet that would be a cool way to relax :).
Amy Lauren recently posted…Weekly Rundown: May 23-29My Profile

    • The shell medal really is special, Amy I love how each one is different. The kayaking was super fun and so relaxing that out in the ocean when I quit paddling I quickly noticed it was taking me out farther and farther. But man it was nice first thing in the morning! I look forward to seeing where all we can kayak around here.
Tricia recently posted…Weekly Wrap 43 Memorial Day WeekendMy Profile

  23. Congrats on your AG placement! I always love when races give out cool medals as awards and beach runs/races are the best! We have kayaks and they’re great! Paddleboarding is also a favorite of my (both paddling/paddle surfing and core/yoga workouts on the board).
Christine @ Into the Glimmer recently posted…Weekly recap (5/23-5/30): The hard weeksMy Profile

    • I originally wanted a paddle board first but I had never even been on one so my next choice was a kayak. Plus in the store we were at the kayaks were cheaper than the boards for some reason. I’m looking forward to having more adventures in theses!

  26. Awesome they gave out shelldals (trying to make a word for shell medal but doesn’t look right lol) at the 5K. Where are you planning to kayak? Mom was a member of the National Guard and a cousin was in the Navy but neither were ever deployed.
Cassi recently posted…In the KitchenMy Profile

    • That’s pretty creative “shelldals” I like it! It was a great medal! I really got lucky on the AG placing. We bought the kayak while on the beach and we took it out in the ocean but we also have a lake near us we visit a lot, in fact we’re camping there now. We’ll kayak there and maybe get in a river float sometime soon!

Sure enough he was so small and I had been taken quite a ways. It was no problem getting back. I am looking forward to putting it in the lake this weekend!
