Welcome to the Weekly Wrap 80 time to relax, and this weekend’s focus was relaxation. See I do know how to relax sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Before I go any further I’d like to… THANK YOU for joining us for the Weekly Wrap. This link up is to keep us all accountable in our active life. Training for a race? Just trying to keep active?? Recapping a race or a fun weekend? We want to support you in whatever you do!

Weekly Wrap

My Weekly Workout Summary, goes something like this:

I had a pretty active week considering I ran both Saturday and Sunday in races. I rested totally on Monday and I only got 4000 steps for the whole day. I felt good on Tuesday and took it easy for 3 miles, made my only strength training session on Wed and then on Thursday I tried for a tempo run. I can tell even in my races, I’ve fallen short on speed work. I look back and wonder how in the heck I managed a PR back in December.

Mr. Sippi and I met my friend Tammy and her husband at the trails and we got in a various amount of mileage. I can sure tell we have not done these hilly trails in some time! She got in 7, me a little over 6 miles and Mr. Sippi an even 6. We all worked hard earning our breakfast.

Things that happened this week:

A EF-3 tornado hit New Orleans – On Tuesday morning a tornado hit very close to one of the RV parks we stay at sometimes. I still haven’t found out if Jude Travel Park made it.

I got in my first Blue Apron Meal box – Yea, our first meal we chose was Sicilian Cauliflower Pizza and while it was good, pretty darn good, all the prep work is not for me! The second dish we took with us to the campground and modified it into an Instant Pot meal.

You can tell I am not a food blogger but you can see it didn’t turn out quite as pretty as the picture. But the taste did not disappoint. I really did not know it wasn’t meat! Tasted so good!

Here’s the pork roast with vegetables and everything except the asparagus was in one pot. That means easy cleanup! I tell you if you can not tell, I am loving my pressure cooker.

Our whole meal was done in about 45 minutes from prep to cook to plate.

I took quite a bit of pictures this week of the sky. This one was at home and I was playing with the settings on my phone.

Snow Moon

Stargazers are in for a triple treat: Friday night will feature a type of lunar eclipse, the Full Snow Moon, and even a comet. You’ve likely heard of a โ€œsupermoon,โ€ when the fullmoon appears brighter than usual because it’s closer to Earth.

I didn’t see the comet ๐Ÿ™ But I was able to see the beautiful moon. Did you notice we are back camping? ๐Ÿ™‚

We decided on Friday to pack things up and head to the campground. This time we brought the kayaks and it was quite windy on Saturday but today was absolutely wonderful!

On Saturday, we invited Tammy and her husband out to our camper to eat dinner. Mr. Sippi enjoys grilling and we had filets, asparagus and baked potatoes in the Pressure Cooker. It was a nice relaxing night to be out by the campfire.

If you peeked at my Instagram, you know it’s hard for me to sit still even when I’m trying to relax. It’s a nice day here and I’ve walked many loops around the campground, kayaked and even biked some.

I did get some time to recap the Louisiana 5k and half marathon weekend from middle of January. I hope you’ll check it out here.

Coming Up:

We’ve got a 10k coming up for us on the 25th, then for the next 5 weeks it’s going to get really busy with a lot of races and almost as much travel! Ahhh, yes indeed and I couldn’t be happier! ย I’m looking at running the Tuscaloosa Half, Montgomery Half, a half marathon relay with Mr. Sippi on the coast, back to New Orleans for the Best Damn Race and ending the streak with an anniversary trip to Raleigh, NC oh and yes running in the Rock n Roll Raleigh will be involved.

Yes, I know it is a lot but I’m going to take it easy (try too) in between and my goals on race day are to #1 have fun and #2 finish!

Is it hard for you to just kick your feet up and relax on your days off? What if it’s so pretty outside?

I’m looking forward to enjoying my morning runs without having to drive here this week. I’m going to try to mix things up to keep it interesting so we’ll see.

I can usually allow myself some real relaxation…but I feel guilty (sometimes) when it happens LOL We had dinner with some friends last night…probably that’s it for Valentines’ Day. Our PA daughter is in the area this week (doing some work at her company’s HQ nearby, so we’re probably gonna have dinner with her on Tuesday).

  8. Your relaxation week seemed very active! I have no problem taking a rest day – even on nice days. What I need to do is include more stretching and foam rolling on my rest days. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I know you’ll enjoy your time at the campground this week. And those runs too! Your upcoming schedule is exhausting me a little. But, I know you’ll have fun at each and every race. I may have to invest in one of those pressure cookers. I do love a fast meal prep time. If only someone else would clean the kitchen.

  16. Sounds like you’ve got a pretty busy race schedule coming up!

    I’ve heard that Blue Apron requires a lot of prep. I love to cook, but the schedule’s not allowing for anything that can’t be done in 30 mins or less these days.

  18. I’m not much for food prep either. I actually hate to cook, so cooking healthy is a real challenge for me!

    I have a lot of races on the calendar too…Gasparilla in two weeks, then the Sarasota 1/2 two weeks later, followed by Star Wars Dark side in April! And I just signed up for Rock n Roll NOLA full marathon for 2018 too! Oy vey! Race addiction is a real thing!

    Love all your race plans too. They inspire me as I have very few race plans so far this year! Rest days are tough sometimes. Today the weather was gorgeous and I was so tempted to run BUT I know making time to rest will pay off in the long run.

  22. Kind of tired just reading all your plans — but your goals are great. ๐Ÿ™‚ For me, it’s always finishing pain/injury free. Which is why I take training seriously — cause my body likes to have niggles even when I’m training properly.

    I’ll be super busy the next month, but with cleaning out my parents’ house. Not so fun. Gotta be done, though.

  27. It looks like you had a great week and glad you got to relax some but also got some good workouts in. Your Blue Apron meal looks really delicious to me, even if the pic isn’t that great. I’ve never had cauliflower crust pizza but would love to try that. It is really hard to rest on beautiful days, I agree- for that reason I’ve started being a bit more flexible with my rest days, too.

  29. We enjoyed our Valentines Date a week early, but I did pick up some scallops & we have venison filet to make a fancy dinner at home this week.

    Have you linked to your kayaks in the past? You seem to really enjoy them. Me and the Mr. want to buy them, or maybe even toss them on our wedding registry in case anyone feels compelled.

  32. I saw the huge tornado in LA on video ๐Ÿ™ I am sure you feel like that is a second home to you now. You sure are busy gal! I hope to get a good busy month going soon, but i have not been able to train regularly- very frustrating!
    I did see snow moon, but didn’t catch the comet or lunar eclipse. we did have some good sunrises and sunsets last week though ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. I am truly awful at relaxing. It’s just not what I do. Even when I am doing nothing, I’m doing something.

    We had a tornado hit here and it was awful. I hope everyone by you is ok and that the campground was untouched.

    I miss kayaking! I’m such a sissy though – the water is still way too cold for it!

    • Ha when we went to the river and took the kayaks and my dog, he loved it. I did have a life vest on him just cause he kind of looks like he’s in distress when he’s swimming. He would swim by the kayak and i had him on a rope so I could reel him in if I needed too. But he did love being out there!

  41. Oh I love Blue Apron. I also like Hello Fresh. I like to cook but I hate the shopping process (and don’t have a ton of time to go looking for recipes and shop), so meal delivery is great. Sounds like you had a good week!
