Weekly Wrap 83

Weekly Wrap 83

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap 83. It’s been a busy weekend for me. Some racing but mostly home to do chores that have piled up since we’ve been gone for the last few weeks.

First weekend of March and for the most part has been great weather. We were still camping as of Friday morning so you know I’ve enjoyed that.

For those new linkers, as well as our long time friends… THANK YOU for joining us for the Weekly Wrap. This link up was started to help us support each other and keep us all accountable in our active life. Training for a race? Just trying to keep active?? Recapping a race or a fun weekend? We want to support you in whatever you do!

There were more new faces that linked up this past week. If you’re missing them, I challenge you to come back later in the week and visit a blog you’ve never visited before. I appreciate those of you who take the time to join us. You may link up your posts with us, Holly from HoHo Runs and myself here at MissSippiPiddlin each week.

Weekly Wrap 83

Jumping right in and staying accountable here is how I faired in my activity this week. I apologize I don’t have my colorful weeky summary. I did manage to get in both strength training sessions, a 1.55 mile run that was cut short due to rain, 3 miles on Tuesday and I did some speed intervals on Thursday.

I  know it doesn’t look like taper before a half marathon, I stayed with my normal week’s routine and until something changes or I get any signs to rest more I’m just going to continue to plug along.

Tuesday ended the month of February and if you didn’t catch my Goals Wrap Up Post you can take a peek here.

Fun things

This week I enjoyed a real campfire, smores and homemade chili.

A week late but I participated in National Margarita Day. Unlike Mr. Sippi it is not my drink of choice but after tasting his, I had to have one of my own. This was a Strawberry Margarita.

I got a much-needed pedicure as well this week. Then on Friday we packed up the RV and drove to Tuscaloosa after work.

We went straight to get our bibs for Saturday’s race then stayed at Mellow Mushroom for about 3 hours. No not by choice, they were backed up and a 45 minute wait turned into well over an hour then another long wait once we got to a table. Food was delicious though.

We pulled right into a parking lot that was going to be used for race day and to sleep we went. Saturday morning came and I tell you it was so nice to get up get ready and walk straight to the start. I could so get use to that!

I am having some issues today, not only did our dishwasher go out but we had to make not one but three trips total to town to get an new on then we ran into issues with converting the old (21 years)  one to the new connections. Fun Fun NOT!

I will tell you I had a darn good race on Saturday, came within 10 seconds of a course PR so I can’t complain about that at all. Oh and Mr. Sippi placed in the 5k in his age group! I’m so very proud of him.

Next Race…

I hope you’ll follow me on Instagram as I head to Montgomery on Friday to see my compadre Holly for a fun filled girls weekend! Oh yea you know there will be running, involved and surely a few drinks who knows what else.

That will do it for this week’s Weekly Wrap 83 post right here.

I hope you have a great week!

Tell me do you try and do home improvement tasks on your own or hire them out?

  1. Congrats on your race and good luck in the next one! Sorry about the dishwasher- that stuff can be so frustrating!

  3. I’m not a margarita girl either…but you know that!

Have fun this weekend with Holly! Wish I could join you gals…

I’m not a big margarita gal either, but the Strawberry one looks good!! I’ll be following you on IG, sounds like a fun weekend ahead!! I’m also hoping to join back in with a recap of my own this week 🙂 Thanks so much, as always, for supporting Sunday Fitness & Food too xo

  6. I’m not a big Margarita person – not sure why, bc I do like tequila! I’m also not a diy-er– luckily I live in an apartment so I don’t have to do anything myself! My husband is note handy though, so I’m sure one day when we have a house we’ll be doing some things on our own!

  7. Sounds like your race went well!!

I’m new to your blog so maybe this is a thing… but did you say you slept in your car before the race??

    • It’s ok Jenny I’m glad you asked we have a motor home we travel as much as we can In it. We have to run the generator but it’s self contained. It saves us from costly hotel rooms when we travel an we are notorious about leaving at night an driving 2-3 hrs to spend the night in a Walmart parking lot to get a jump start on our trip. Thanks for asking an thanks for joining us. 🙂

  8. We used to do all the home improvements ourselves, but now we hire them out. At some point we just got to an age where we decided we’d rather be doing other things with our time.

Have so much fun with Holly next weekend! And you know from following me on IG that I am quite the margarita gal! 🙂

Thanks so much for the linkup!

  9. We definitely hire out the home improvement tasks! This week we have to call the guy to pressure wash the house. I don’t want my husband cleaning the gutters and things like that. Now, we do our own raking, mowing grass, etc, but always hire out the bigger tasks. I like to get a home deep cleaning every so often too.

Glad you had a good week and so exciting that you and Holly get to meet up and have your own little weekly wrap up in person. Congratulations on a great half marathon that I can’t wait to read about and don’t feel like you really need to taper or recover from all of them. Some races are “train through” races. Recovery is important, but it’s ALWAYS important- on an every day basis. Tapering is more for goal races. You and I both run a lot of races so for me, many of those races are just glorified workouts I paid a lot of money for.
Amy Lauren recently posted…Coping with Injury: February 20-26My Profile

    • You are very right Amy thanks for reminding me about how important recovery is every day. I’ll modify this week some in preps for another hilly course.

  10. Congrats on the race! Ugh on the dishwasher. Mine is having issues and I’m trying to eek it along. I do a lot of home repair, but I don’t touch plumbing or electricity.

  14. I think I had one margarita in my life. At my bachelorette party of all places. I was the designated driver. You know I like being the driver. :p
Yay for a strong half, my friend! Can’t wait to hear more about it. Wow 21 years of service from a dishwasher is amazing!
Marcia recently posted…Balancing Training and LifeMy Profile

    • I am shocked it lasted as long as it did. I’d say for about 15 years I put it through the ringer too! I’m much better about using the dishwasher as a sanitizer rather than a washer now.

  15. Congrats to both you and your hubby on running strong races! Can’t wait to read the recap!

  16. I’d always prefer to hire someone out if I were given the chance. My boyfriend is super handy so he handles a lot of issues. I just remember the time the toilet was overflowing and I was home alone sending him pictures so he could tell me which valves to shut off!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder recently posted…Gasparilla 1/2 Marathon Race RecapMy Profile

    • Oh my an overflowing toilet is no fun at all! I’m really proud of Mr. Sippi he’ll tackle any project you throw at him most of the time!

  17. I am not a huge margarita fan myself but every once in awhile one will taste good! You did an awesome job at the half and so did the hubby with his race, he is really getting into it! Appliances have changed some in the last 20 years- now the new stuff doesn’t hook up like the old stuff- PIA. We do try to do a lot of it ourself but I do know where to draw the line 🙂 Safe travels this weekend and have tons of fun!

    • Mr. Sippi is the margarita drinker in our household but dang if his fresh strawberry one didn’t taste wonderful!

  18. Congratulations on another half marathon! and on the near PR!! Also congrats to your hubby on the AG Placement! That is fantastic!

I am jelly of your margaritas! I haven’t had one in a while!

  19. Being able to use your own bathroom and walk to the starting line is the best! I think that will be happening in NOLA for me, although right now I don’t exactly remember how close to the start our hotel is.

Congrats on a good half! When I did drink, way back in college, strawberry margaritas were my drink of choice. 🙂 Or daiquiri, I wasn’t real picky.

Thankfully Mr. Judy is very handy (me, not so much). Although he doesn’t always know when to get the professionals in.

Have fun with Holly! As if I need to write that. 🙂

  21. I personally would probably hire out about 50% of our home renos, but Mr. Sass is a wiz and willing to learn to do things he doesn’t know how to do already. Not to mention he has several friends who do HVAC or electric & are willing to lend a hand which they know we’ll pay back in the future. He did our ENTIRE kitchen. Literally gutted it all, rearranged the layout. Added a dishwasher, new appliances, insulation since there was none, lights on a dimmer, the whole deal. And it looks GREAT!

    PS that margarita looks delicious!

    Thanks for hosting!

  22. Amazing job on your half- I feel like you’re always racing! So inspiring!

We try to handle most home improvement issues ourselves, but it definitely causes more stress that way…not sure if it’s worth it!

  23. Congrats on the strong race and i love me some margaritas!

  24. My dad is a DIY person, and I got roped into those projects when I was a kid. Now my parents know don’t bother asking me. I whined so much, but I’m pretty good at putting my furniture together. I’m clueless when it comes to plumbing.

  25. You’ve had a pedicure already???? I’m been holding out for out spa trip. My toes are completely naked. You know how I feel about margaritas. Enough said. PoPo does most of our repairs but sometimes you gotta “Call The Man” (as Andy Griffith used to say). Can’t wait to see you on Friday. EEK.

  26. That sounds great – just rolling out of your RV to the start. The Gate River Run is like that. You will see tons of RVs in the parking lots around the start line, and people just get out and start running.

So. Mr PugRunner is not handy. At all. I will do a few home repairs, but for the big stuff, we hire out. It saves us lot of arguing, so it’s worth it.

  27. Wow! Congrats on your race! A campfire and s’mores sounds awesome. The long wait at the restaurant, not so much! My husband definitely tries to fix things himself. He usually does a good job too. 🙂

  28. Congrats on your race! Now that I’m a homeowner, I’m starting to look more into home improvement since I just don’t trust anyone to repair anything for us without charging us a fortune, ugh! Sorry to hear about your dishwasher troubles.

  30. Congrats on another awesome race weekend!! We will be in Birmingham this weekend for soccer. So close to Montgomery! Hope y’all both have a great race!

  31. Congrats on the race and yay for your husbands AG placement!!! Sorry to hear about the dish washer. We usually call for bigger service repairs. Our home Warrenty hasn’t been the greatest so far. We had to wait 8 weeks for our upstairs electrical issue, 7 weeks for a new fridge and we’ve been waiting almost 9 weeks for our kitchen faucets to be replaced…..?
Anyways, hope you have a good week ahead and another great race coming up!

So a while back you mentioned the Utah Valley Marathon, I may have missed if its on your plans for sure or not, but if it is there is a greater chance I’ll be there, because I was given an entry so I signed up. So if you do end up coming, let me know I’d love to meet ya!

  39. Campfire and s’mores! YUMMY! I miss camping so much. So sorry to hear about your dishwasher… those things are a lifesaver. My husband is a handy one and tends to fix most things around our house. If it’s during farming busy season we would just hire out, though!
