Once again there were more new faces that linked up with us this past week. If you’re missing them, I challenge you to come back later in the week and visit a blog you’ve never visited before. I appreciate those of you who take the time to join us. You may link up your posts with us, Holly from HoHo Runs and myself here at MissSippiPiddlin each week.

Before I get to our fun weekend, I’m staying accountable by sharing my activity summary.

Weekly Wrap 84 Weekend with Holly

I rested the running legs on Monday morning after my half marathon and had not too hard of a “Leg Day” that afternoon.  As long as I’m feeling well I hate to mess up my legs and upper body routine because it simply “works” for me.

My Tuesday easy 3 miles was just that, my pace was 12:22 and I tried to pay attention to my heart rate and keep it low. I even walked a few steps to bring it down. Holly has instilled in me the importance of these runs and I think I’m embracing them now more than ever. Your welcome Holly 🙂

I wanted to turn over my legs on Thursday which is normally hills or speed work but I did not want to overdo it here with another challenging half on my calendar for Saturday. So I would say I kept it at about 75% effort for this.

Friday seemed to drag on but just after lunch I hit the road and headed to Holly’s. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and the three-hour drive went by pretty quickly.

As soon as I get there we head down to the Riverwalk Stadium where the expo is to pick up our packets. I’ll have more in my recap but you really do get a lot of perks with your entry to this race.

I had dinner tonight with her family and we spend the rest of the night chatting like sisters.

Race Day

Race Day came early and we could not have timed getting there any better. I am not one who likes to stand around before a race. The sooner I get there the more antsy and nervous I get. Not to mention today was pretty cool starting out.  Holly knew exactly where to go to park and we got up to the start in time to snap a picture and I slipped into the corral.

A minute later I was off. Montgomery is always a tough course for many. It is known for its hills and you get acquainted with them right out of the gate with a 2 mile steady incline. Now that will get your blood a pumping for sure.

I’ll save some thoughts for the recap but all in all I felt good 3/4 of the race. I did seem to hit a wall about mile 10 and it I was just tired. I had to dig deeper this race than I have in quite a while.

After Holly ran her race she came to find me and ran the last couple of miles with me. I was still in the slums of despair so I did not talk much but I was very appreciative for her joining me and her doing most of the talking and encouraging.

She peeled off in time to catch this picture of me in the home stretch! Doesn’t she do a great job?

I’m pleased with my results, every race is different even if the course is the same. I was just over 2 minutes slower than the previous year but I had not run a hilly half just the weekend before it either. I enjoyed be back in Montgomery, it’s a beautiful city and I had fun, THAT is what matters!

In true tradition style, Holly and I celebrated first by stopping by Starbucks, then back at her place we enjoyed mimosas, in the swing overlooking her pool.

We scheduled us both a pedi at the spa and enjoyed relaxing before it and maybe another mimosa too. We ate at AW Shucks Oyster Bar and Grill, a great place outside of town. Many times I would catch her here while we were texting about our Saturday as she would be coming home from the lake.

After a break back at her house we went back out to enjoy drinks and visiting around a firepit at the Renaissance outside patio and thank goodness for the fire as the wind was cold!

Sunday Funday

Sunday we casually got up, drank coffee and chatted. It was so nice too. I packed up my things and followed her to a super neat place called First Watch for breakfast. I had the special which was Lemon Blueberry Quinoa Pancakes.

Weekly Wrap 84 Weekend with Holly

We walked off some of our food around the Capital building looking for photo ops with our medals. And just like that, my weekend with Holly was over.

Next Race…

My next race was thrown in only because I knew I’d more than likely get in a 6-7 mile long run anyway. and who doesn’t like to get swag for their efforts ?? The hubs and I decided to go to the Beach for a relaxing weekend and of course there just so happened to be a race near by. Go figure that? 🙂

We will be in Bay St. Louis, MS and it is time for their Bring it to the Bay race and I was tickled to find out they offered a Half Marathon relay so I twisted Mr. Sippi’s arm into doing it with me.

Be sure to keep up with me on Instgram to see just what we’re getting into. That is going to do it for me for this week’s Weekly Wrap 84 Weekend with Holly post right here.

I hope you have a great week!

Tell me do you really get into looking for unique places to take a picture of your race medals?

    Breakfast looks yummy!

I do love my post-race medal photo shoot. I got a little frazzled at the Gate and forgot to get a photo of my medal in front of the bridge 🙁
