THANK YOU for joining us for the Weekly Wrap. This link up was created to help us support each other and keep us all accountable in our active life. We want to support you in whatever you do!

Weekly Wrap

I get so inspired by reading Weekly Wrap posts. There are so many gals who join us each week, each on their own path, their journey to staying fit and working on goals! I won’t lie, it’s hard to keep up with everyone each and every week but there would be a void in my life without it!

I know I can also speak for Holly when I say we both appreciate you joining us. Show us what you’re doing in your life to stay active, how do you create a balance between training, work, and family life? Link up your posts each week with us, Holly from HoHo Runs and myself here at MissSippiPiddlin.

Weekly Wrap 90 Randomness

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap 90 Randomness. I struggled with a title for this edition of the Weekly Wrap. Nothing just special jumped out this week. No race, no unique events really happened much. I am still camping we’ll be here a few more weeks too. We will leave to go to Kentucky for my race this weekend but our campsite will be saved for our return.

Weekly Workout Summary

In random form:

4 Runs = 15.79 miles for the week

2 Strength Training Sessions

82,038 Fitbit steps for the week

I felt good about my activity from this week. Was sore from both leg day and bi’s and tri’s. Being sore is a good feeling, means I had a good workout.

I’ll leave you with some picture randomness from this week:

Early morning view from the Lake

I’m still enjoying running at this campground. I complain about the hills but it’s really doing me good. I really don’t have to repeat to get in about 8 or more miles either.

Trying to sprout avocados

We’ve been making homemade guacamole and I decided to try to sprout some from the pits. I took them to work and they are sitting on the window seal in the kitchen. I have never had a green thumb so we’ll see.

Look how thick these are

We seem to eat better when we’re camping. The husband loves to grill out and I equally love that he cooks! One night we had filets another Black Bean Soup which is a favorite of ours and would you believe one night I had bacon only. I worked late, very late and didn’t get home until after 9PM. He had bacon and tomato sandwiches and I just ate the leftover bacon.

The fire is mesmerizing

We haven’t had a fire since last weekend when our friends were here. We’ve been low on firewood and Friday Mr. Sippi sent me a text saying he had wood for me to burn! Yay, I didn’t even care if it came in the form of old fascia board from a house he’s working on!

Headed to eat here with friends

Saturday we had planned on having friends over to cook out but Mother N had weather move in and spawned storms all over our plans. So instead of being cooped up in the RV we just went out to eat. Apparently, those strong storms came through while we were gone. On our return, the roads were littered with limbs and leaves from all the wind. I was sure nervous as our awning on our RV was out and thankfully nothing fell on it, but another neighbor was not so lucky as it broke his.

I complained yesterday while running my long run about how hot and humid it was, this morning was a totally different story as we woke up to 53 degrees and breezy conditions.

Anyone else listening to S-Town podcast? A friend said something about it at the gym and I was curious what it was. It’s from the makers of Serial and I enjoyed it so I checked it out. Wow, I could not put it down!  I’d love to hear your thoughts on it if you’ve listened.

Coming up

Last big race for me is this weekend when we’re Kentucky bound for me to run in the KY Derby half on Saturday. The weather is not looking too good either. Boo!

Talk to me:

Ever tried to grow an avocado tree? What have you grown? Mary Beth, I know you have great luck with your pineapples!

S-Town, yea, nah????

  1. So glad I am finding other MS runners through your linkups!

I have just started STown. I’m through episode 4, and it’s been my fuel on long runs recently. Obsessed!

  2. We missed out on the cooler weather for our long run! I wore a dress to church this morning thinking it would be warm. I was surprised how cool it felt! Can’t wait to hear about your race in Kentucky this weekend!

    • I did not do my homework or I may have considered doing my longer run today vs yesterday. I don’t much like to mess up my routine but I would have considered it anyway.
We’re camping and I had to break out the sweatshirt, something that’s been packed under layers upon layers of tanks and shorts!

  3. I can’t wait to hear about the Kentucky Derby Half — it’s definitely been on my radar.

Boo to all the working. 2 jobs, really? I don’t know how you do it

I would love to be running without looping, seems to be all I do these days!

    • I’m not sure what I was thinking taking on this 2nd job really. It fell in my lap and when things like that happen I just feel like it’s a door being opened that I don’t know the reason right now.

  4. I’m kind of a podcast flunkie as I listened to the first episode of Serial and no more. I grow lots of things but never tried avocados. I’ll be interested to see how yours grow! Happy camping!
Marcia recently posted…The Power of MoreMy Profile

    • That’s right you do enjoy your gardening! What was it last year you grew that got so big? Watermelon? Pumpkin? I’m afraid I did not receive my grandmother’s green thumb, I swear that lady could grow just about anything!

  5. Awesome job this week with your workouts, especially your FitBit steps!!

I don’t listen to podcasts but I’m thinking of starting to listen to them on long runs – thanks for the suggestion!

  6. Sprouting avocados? Why have I never heard of this? Although, I’m guessing I wouldn’t have a good climate for avocados, but I’d be in heaven if I did. Have fun and good luck at your upcoming race!

  7. I can’t avoid hills on my running routes either! You’re right though, they’re good for us. I’m finishing up Serial 2 and then on to S-town. These are good podcasts!

  8. Nice balance of workouts! I wish we had the climate for an avocado tree… I grew up with pear trees, which were delicious, and there are lots of apple/cherry trees here. We currently have a raspberry bush but it hasn’t done much in the last two years.

  9. An avocado tree sounds super fun! I listened to S Town – I enjoyed it overall but felt like I needed more info at the end!

  10. Anything we try to grow outdoors gets eaten by squirrels, with the exception of jalapenos. I also like to grow sweet potato vines because they are so pretty but have never found a potato underneath. (Hmmm…) I’ll have to look into S Town. You’ll do great in Kentucky. Running those campground hills are definitely good for you!

    • I love sweet potatoes, I may try to do them. Listen to me I’ve never ever shown interest in growing things before! I have a great place to plant a garden at my house, in fact, the land is where my granddaddy was born and raised and where my house is was the cotton field. But I’d have to stay home long enough to tend to it. Nevermind that was a bad idea! 🙂

  11. I’ve heard good things about S-town but I’m not a podcast girl. Altho Marcia and I talk about doing a podcast–I should probably see what it’s all about, right?

    Good luck in Kentucky!

  12. Never thought of sprouting avocados. You will have to let us know if they end up growing and how long they take. When I think of camping I think of eating bad like burgers and hot dogs, but it sounds like you guys do it up well!

  15. Never tried sprouting avocados, but I don’t especially like to eat them anyways. I do grow tomatoes each summer (from starter plants), and sometimes I’ve also done peppers (also from starters). Years ago, I would plant seeds and nurture them in a sunny window but never had much luck when it came time for transferring the seedlings outside.

  16. I’ve never heard of that podcast. I have heard of Serial. I mostly just listen to running podcasts, honestly. I don’t even listen to any of those regularly. It looks like you had a great week of training and traveling- I’d love to stay in a hilly campground to at least get some hilly miles in!

  20. We once grew an avocado tree from seed. Lasted 7 years and then suddenly died having given us no fruit! But we do have peach trees, papaya trees and orange trees 🙂 Good luck with your next race – hope the weather starts to look a bit better!

  21. Wow! Avocados? That sounds so cool! I don’t have a garden and I’ve never really grown anything so that sounds amazing.

And two jobs? Man, I can barely stay afloat with my one job right now, I don’t know how you do it!

    Enjoy the campground!

  22. Looks like a strong week, feeling sore is usually a sign of a good workout!

  23. Two jobs. I have trouble getting it all done with one.

I can’t wait for warmer temps and boating times. I love grilling outdoors.

We do sleep on our boat so it’s sort of like camping. It’s awesome waking up and seeing the sunrise on the lake.

  24. Way to get in your workouts! It’s been rather cold here so I feel like I’ve been hybernating inside and we even had a fire in our wood stove over the weekend! I’m looking forward to camping this summer with my family.

  28. I’ve never grown an avocado but I would love to. I LOVE guac, but don’t make it myself too often since I like the store version and it saves me the hassle of picking JUST the right day to make it. But I would LOVE to make my own so I could tweak my recipe. I’m thinking I’ll have to try it for Cinco de Mayo, and see if I can’t make some grow after that.

    Thanks for hosting!

And if you ever make it to PA we have TONS of wood that needs burned. Like literally we’ve been having fires when we don’t even want to JUST so we can burn down some of the wood we have laying around.

  29. I think I will start on S-town this week while I get some steps in! 🙂 Yes, I have a huge avocado tree in my backyard. You need 2- they have to mate in order to get the avocados- one tree is super large and the other one is small. Looks like you are on the right track! Fingers crossed for Kentucky!

  31. I queued S-Town up for my long run on Saturday, but then ran into some technical difficulties and got frustrated so switched over to music. I’ve heard good things about it.

  32. Oooh I look forward to seeing your avacdado progress! I just saw a video about that online and thought.. maybe I will try it out.

  33. I’ve thought about growing an avocado tree, but from what I’ve researched, where I live (Charleston, South Carolina) isn’t a good place for them, which is weird because it’s warm and humid here most of the time. Looks like you had a good week of camping and workouts!

  34. I’m not familiar with Stown. I’ll have to check it out …always looking for something to take my mind off of these hot and humid miles lately! Have fun this weekend in Kentucky and I definitely think you and Mr. Sippi should do the underground zip line! 🙂
