Weekly Wrap 92 Hello Post Racing Season

Welcome to the Weekly Wrap 92 Hello Post Racing Season and while many of you are gearing up for your racing season, mine has come to an end or atleast until the Fall. I am not signed up for a single race over the next few months.  Hopefully, I’ll sneak in a few 5k’s.

I had a pretty busy week following our weekend in Louisville. My hectic schedule didn’t allow time on Monday for my leg day. I’ve said before when things go out of my control, I feel it’s best to just let it play out.

Weekly Workout Summary

Before we get to some fun stuff, here is how my active week went.

Sunday – Traveling back
Monday – 3.05 miles
Tuesday – 3.10 Miles
Wednesday – Back and Bi’s
Thursday – Rest
Friday – 3.11 miles
Saturday – 6.43 miles

Fitbit Total for the week 81, 200

I’d tell you I really enjoyed my relaxing week of running but actually, the past few weeks have been pretty much relaxed. I felt like I was in enough half marathon shape to finish but not necessary at record paces.

Without any races, I don’t feel the need to run distance but I do still want to maintain my way to my yearly mileage goal of 850 miles. That comes out to just over 16 miles a week. Very doable and as long as I run frequently I can keep my runs short. I’d like to continue with a longer run on Saturday but I’m not going to be too upset if it only amounts to 4-5 miles.

Weekly Wrap 92 Hello Post Racing Season

I am still very much enjoying being at the campground, it’s our new home and we have a few more weeks here. As I was coming home one afternoon I caught this scene through the trees and I had to drive to the boat ramp to capture this. Being on the other side of the lake we don’t get to enjoy the sunrise but we do get great views of the sunset!

Weekly Wrap 92 Hello Post Racing Season

On Friday night the hubs and I cleaned up and we had date night complete with dinner and a play at the local theater. We watched the production of 9 to 5 and it was such a fun one! I laughed so hard, the humor is spot on and I truly enjoyed every minute!

Saturday we enjoyed time with a friend of mine, both of her daughters graduated one with a master’s degree and the other a nursing degree! We had fun in her back yard, visiting with her family (which I just about know more of her family than I do my own!)  We ended the night playing a card game called Rotten Apples! It’s an adult card game that if you can handle the duel suggestive meanings it can be so much fun! We had a great group to play and I was in stitches several times!

Ever played Rotten Apples card game?

What do you like to do during your “off season”?

I’m going to cut my post short here, if you missed my recap of the Kentucky Derby Half and you’d like to read it, please go here!

Weekly Wrap 92 Hello Post Racing Season

Link up below:

  1. Looks like you had an awesome week, and date night! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the production of 9 to 5. I really want to go to plays more often!

I have a race this month and a few races in June, but nothing scheduled for July/August. I’m not a good “hot weather” runner, so I normally don’t race those months, but I race a lot in the Fall (that’s my favorite season)!

  2. That is a gorgeous sunset you captured! The way our house is situated we can’t really see sunsets because of the trees. It sounds like you’re having a wonderfully relaxing time, at least in the evening when not at work.

    Thanks for the linkup!

  3. That sounds like perfect off season mileage! I like to add in more strength training when I’m not running as much. You’re right, things are just picking up here post-winter, but you’ve definitely earned a break after all the racing you did this year already!

  4. I didn’t really have my usual off season this year, but I usually like to keep my “long” runs at 5-6 miles during it. This year Rachel might have something to say about that. 🙂

Sounds like a great week! Congrats to the grads!

  5. I am not signed up for anything else either! My half was tough on Saturday. I’m so glad you and Greg got to have a fun date night! That play sounds awesome! I hope you both have a nice and relaxed summer!

  6. Wow no races on the calendar for you?! I always think its nice to take a break from racing and just run for fun. I also enjoy jumping into last minute 5ks when I don’t have races planned!

  7. I’ve never played Rotten apples but it sounds like fun! (I just saw Something Rotten! the musical, though 🙂 ) I read your race recap – it sounds like a fun race (despite the weather) – definitely one i’d consider doing!

  8. Hard to believe it’s the end of race season for you! I’ll tell you what, you and the hubs should come to Chicago in July for the RnR Chicago half! That would be a blast….

  9. You and the hubby clean up nice – I love date nights! I’m ready to be in relaxation mode – but I have one more race, a marathon nonetheless, between me and summer rest!

  10. I’ve never heard of Rotten Apples… we have played Cards of Humanity so many times though. It’s especially funny to play with parents or older people!

Like you I don’t have any races on the schedule. I’m not signed up for anything until the late Fall/winter but I love running races so surely I’ll run some 5Ks this summer and maybe some longer runs before those other races. I do think I need a big uninterupted training block without racing for awhile, so I can increase my mileage, and summer is about the perfect time for that. I don’t have any mileage goals this year though, after having to take 6 weeks completely off due to injuries, anything I hoped for would be shot by this point anyhow, lol.

  11. That sunset is gorgeous! Glad to know I’m not the only one to drop everything and chase a good view! You had a good spring racing season – I’m sure you’ll find some fun 5ks before fall.

  12. Your off-season is a tad bit warmer than mine (remember? My off-season happens in December/January…and I usually have this white stuff –called “snow”– to contend with). 😉
Kim Hatting recently posted…Spring Has Returned! My Profile

  13. I feel like “off season” doesn’t really exist for me. Last year I didn’t race in January, August, or October, so the off times are kind of sporadic! This year I’ve had at least one race each month and I feel that it keeps me motivated to stay in healthy shape and try to take care of my body. When I take a bit of time off, I start to feel sluggish and lack motivation in all aspects of my life
Emily Renteria recently posted…Weekly Wrap #5My Profile

  14. I haven’t played Rotten Apples. I like doing more cross training in the off season. I’d consider this my off season since I’m not training for a goal race until July. Love that view pic!

  15. Sometimes it is just nice to run because and not have anything on your schedule you are training for. That’s how I feel right now, although I still have been doing my longer runs to keep up my endurance, but if it doesn’t happen I am fine with that too. I have heard about Rotten Apples. I heard it is the adult/dirty version of Apples to Apples but I have never played that one. Have you played Cards against Humanity? I heard that is another good adult card game.

  16. it looks so gorgeous where you are! I can imagine you are really enjoying it!

I don’t actually feel like it’s ever “off-season”. Though so far this year has been different because of less running in general and no marathons. I haven’t even had a Half Marathon yet (less than 2 weeks now). Since I started running I’m just always running or always training. Even if it’s not extreme training, it’s still there. I don’t have official training right now because I’m just trying to get through school and then the RoPa Run, but after that I have an 8-week training plan for the RnR Dublin Half in August. Hopefully I can do another RnR race in November 😉 So, pretty much never “off” 🙂

Never heard of that game but people who know me would describe me as “does not play well with others” when it comes to games hahahaha! I’m just a terrible loser and since I know that about myself I don’t engage. Funny because I’m not super-competitive otherwise!!

  17. I’m not sure about Rotten Apples but we play a card game called Cards Against Humanity which is based off a cleaner version called Apples to Apples- the CAH game is extremely dirty but hilarious!

  18. Sounds like a great week and I love the date night picture! One race to go and then a little break for me too! I haven’t heard of Rotten Apples, I am sure I am missing something! Enjoy the campground!

  19. I’ve nearing the end of racing season here too, I have one last half in KS next weekend. I’m looking for a few weeks of “leisure running” before I get into training for the Chicago marathon.

  20. One of my favorite parts about off season is all the different types of fitness // cross training I am able to enjoy. I do a lot more biking and hiking, and can usually convince Mr. Sass to run with me because I’m not so worried about my paces.

Sounds like you’re embracing some of the same.

  21. I love that you are in the Post season now! For me, 5K season is just getting started and I plan to beat my 5K time, so that will likely be a lots of 5Ks.

What a beautiful shot of the sunset!!
Ana recently posted…Weekly Wrap 05.07.17My Profile

  22. I may have played Rotten Apples, but I have played Cards Against Humanity. I know we’re adults, but when friends’ parents are playing, it can make it funnier.

  23. What a beautiful lake!
I’ve been MIA for a while, this may be a dumb question but so do you live the awesome RV travel life now? I know a lot of people do it, I even have a good friend who travels around the U.S., they sold their home a few years back and never looked back.
I can’t remember if I’ve played Rotten Apples or not! Enjoy your weeks at the lake, it really does look peaceful and stunningly beautiful there! Have fun!

  24. Gorgeous lake shot and your date night sounds wonderful! I’m enjoying this “off season” running with low-mileage runs making more time for fun stuff like… mowing the lawn and spring cleaning? Well, that part is true, but the low mileage is much less of a “stress” to schedule in! This laid back pregnancy running season is a really nice change from marathon training 🙂

I hope you enjoy your off-season running and stay cool this summer! I’m sure things are heating up in the south now!!!

  25. That sunset is stunning! Is Rotten Apples related to Apples to Apples – cause I’ve definitely played that, but not Rotten Apples! I don’t have much of a racing season, so I don’t have much of an off season. I’d probably spend more time doing yoga though if I did!

  26. I think with eveything you have going on right now ..no races and a few weeks at the campground are exactly what you and Mr. Sippi need!! Enjoy the slower pace for a change. 🙂

I love going to the local theatre! We used to do ‘first nighters’ at MLT and it was always fun dressing up. Glad you guys are supporting the local artists!

Never played Rotten Apples, but sounds like fun. Enjoy Tricia and good luck with the new job.

  27. Beautiful views of the water! I’ve never played Rotten Apples.

  28. Sounds like a good week! I only have a fun run coming up and no scheduled races until October! It is nice being in the off season, although I may add a 5K in or a trail run sometime this summer. I’m hoping to do more cross training so more hopefully more hikes and would love to get back into playing tennis. We’ll see. Cute picture of you and your husband!

  29. I have played a game similar to Rotten Apples and I have to admit that I’m not into the dirty card games LOL!

  30. After this weekend’s race I have got a bit of a break until end of June. I am secretly happy about that – will still be doing my training but at least without the pressure of an upcoming race! You and your hubby are fast becoming my favourite couple! Lovely date night photo x

  32. It’s hard to imagine you don’t have any races lined up for a few months. But, we all need some downtime, right? I’ll be doing the same during the summer. I’m happy you’re enjoying your new camping spot. It sure is pretty. I’ve never heard of Rotten Apples. I’ll have to check that out!

  33. Wow that is quite a sunset! I totally do not take advantage of all the beauty outside enough. Your weekly running mileage goal does sound really doable when you break it down like that
